About Our Business
Family Reading Inc. is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. We charge a fee for our services
which typically range from $300 to $600 per presentation. These fees are frequently paid for by
PTA groups, Friends of the Library, private donations and local business sponsors. Grants and
partnerships also help offset the cost of the services provided.
Our vision is to have every family in the world devote at least 20 minutes daily to a quiet
uninterrupted family reading time.
Family Reading Inc.began after public school teacher, Seth Sherwood clearly saw the need to
raise the reading level of many of his high school language arts students. He left teaching to make
a greater impact on children and parents when it came to family literacy.
Most of the musical presentations are done by Dr. Lee Brose and Candy the pink dancing gorilla.
One typical format has Candy searching for a treasure chest with Dr. Lee Brose giving clues to
the audience. Songs, stories, magic and interaction make this show fun and fascinating and a hit
with the kids. Performances are done in English or Spanish or both. El doctor es bilingue.
